In their first home game in a while this past Monday, the LHS varsity boys faced off against the Winthrop Vikings, who came into the contest having won four of their last five games. The Minutemen trailed 2-0 late in the second period before Senior Captain Adam O'Shaughnessy delivered a beautiful feed to Brady Kingsbury, who found the back of the net with a high blocker-side shot. The goal trimmed the deficit to 2-1 heading into the third period.
Optimism was high entering the final frame, especially given the Minutemen's recent success at Hayden, where they had won three of four home games. However, a self-inflicted lapse in defensive zone coverage early in the third period proved costly. In a span of just two minutes, the Vikings scored three quick goals, extending their lead to 5-1.
Patrick Semanchick sparked some late-game excitement when he buried a one-timer off a slick pass from linemate Dylan Lane, cutting the Winthrop lead to 5-2 with eight minutes remaining. The goal gave the home crowd a glimmer of hope, but it would ultimately be the final tally for the Minutemen. Their comeback bid fell short, and the Vikings secured the win. The loss marked Lexington's fourth in a row after what had been a promising 5-3 start to the season.
On Wednesday night, the boys traveled to Everett to face the Everett/Revere Crimson Tide in a timely matchup that ended their four-game skid. LHS dominated their overmatched opponent, cruising to an 11-1 victory. The game was full of milestones, including the first

career varsity goals for sophomore Ben Loucks and senior Alex Corbett, as well as the first varsity win for sophomore goalie Teighan Tassinari.
The Minutemen will wrap up the week on Sunday at 12:30 PM (Bentley Rink) with a showdown against their crosstown rivals and youth hockey partner, Bedford. The Bedford Buccaneers boast an impressive 9-1 record and are currently ranked 6th in the Massachusetts state Division 3 power rankings. With a roster featuring 15 seniors, Bedford's deep and experienced team will present a challenge for the Minutemen, who are looking to win the rival game for a second year in a row.
Despite their current position, the Minutemen still have a path to the playoffs, likely as a play-in candidate. To secure that spot, the team must finish the regular season with a .500 or better record if they fall outside the top 32 in the state rankings. Four of their final seven opponents currently have sub-.500 records, offering a realistic opportunity to climb the standings.
As the team pushes for its third consecutive playoff berth, tightening up defensive zone play will be crucial in these final games.
