Unlike their previous game, where Lexington overcame a two-goal deficit to secure a 4-2 victory, there was no comeback magic against Burlington, who seemed to be a step ahead of the Minutemen all night.
Burlington struck early when a Lexington defenseman lost an edge and fell, giving a Burlington player a clear path to the net for an easy goal. This play set the tone for the rest of the game, as Lexington committed several miscues, handing Burlington multiple scoring opportunities.

The Minutemen struggled with sloppy play all night, unable to effectively break the puck out of their zone and turning it over too frequently. While Burlington's forecheck deserves credit for putting pressure on Lexington, the Minutemen's self-inflicted mistakes only compounded the problem.
Offensively, Lexington's current line combinations have had difficulty generating sustained zone time in the preseason and season opener, particularly in the Burlington game, where they struggled to apply consistent pressure with their forecheck.
The team will look to put this loss behind them and refocus. They have just a few days to prepare for Wilmington, who will visit Hayden Ice Rink on Saturday night.
