Minutemen beat AB 1-0 to advance to the Battle Road Classic Championship game.

Updated: Dec 30, 2024

The LHS Varsity Boys delivered a strong all-around performance in their opening round game of the 2024 Battle Road Classic tournament, often dominating zone time against Acton-Boxboro. However, converting opportunities into goals remains a challenge for LHS, as the team is currently averaging fewer than two goals per game five games into the 2024-25 season.

Tonight, though, one goal was all they needed. Solid defensive play and steady goaltending from sophomore Timmy Rinaldi secured the victory.

With the score tied at zero, Lexington found themselves in a critical 5-on-3 penalty kill. Showcasing what has been a season-long strength, the penalty-kill unit not only shut down

the opposition but went a step further. As the Minutemen regained possession, they sprung junior forward Pat Semanchick on a breakaway as he exited the penalty box.

Semanchick executed a beautiful forehand-backhand move, beating the Acton-Boxboro goalie cleanly and providing the Minutemen with the only goal they would need to secure the win.

Tomorrow, the Minutemen face a tough challenge as they take on a strong Concord-Carlisle team in the championship game of the Battle Road Classic.

The puck drops on Saturday at 4:00 PM at Hayden Rink. Let's get everyone our to support the boys and pack our barn!
