The 2024-25 LHS Hockey season has come to an end but before diving into the details of the 2024-25 season, we want to take a moment to recognize our outstanding Senior Captains, Adam O’Shaughnessy and Rob Semanchick, for their hard work and leadership throughout the season. A huge thank you as well to our dedicated coaching staff—Head Coach Mike Doran, Coach Mike Keegan, Coach Marty Gorman, and Coach Joe Hunt—for their guidance and commitment. We’re also grateful to our Athletic Director, Naomi Martin, and the Hockey Boosters for their support. And finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our seniors—Adam O’Shaughnessy, Robert Semanchick, Ian Robinson, Chris Shu, and Alex Corbett—as well as the entire team, their families, and all the fans who showed up and cheered the boys on all season!

While the team’s 5-3 start showed promise, an unexpected 2-9-1 tailspin down the stretch left them short of their playoff berth goal after back-to-back postseason appearances. However, the story of this season isn’t about the finish—it’s about the growth, development, and the foundation laid for the 2025-26 season. From a great team bonding trip in Martha's Vineyard to key wins over Middlesex League opponents Watertown/Wayland and Wilmington, the team proved they could compete at a higher level when fully engaged. Their 2-2-1 record against Middlesex competition marked a noticeable step forward from last season’s 0-3-1 finish against the Middlesex, showing real progress and promising momentum heading into next year.
Looking ahead to 2025-26, the Minutemen return a deep, experienced core that will be ready to take the next step. The team will be led by seasoned, multi-year varsity players Dylan Lane, Patrick Semanchick, Caleb Fehm, Brady Kingsbury, and Ben Loucks, all of whom bring leadership and skill to the lineup. Complementing them is a talented group of first-year varsity players—Ryan Jenness, Connor O’Leary, Timmy Rinaldi, Hunter Xu, and Arjun Bhandari—who gained invaluable experience this season and will only continue to excel in year two. Additionally, key returning players like Ryan Li, Aaron Yu, Vasili Splagounias, Coulson Roy, Aiden Neale, Karl Gude, and Teighan Tassinari provide skill, depth and versatility across all positions.
In net, the goaltending duo of Timmy Rinaldi and Teighan Tassinari proved their potential this season. Rinaldi excelled in his first year as a varsity starter, while Tassinari performed admirably when called upon. With a full season under their belts, this tandem is poised to be even stronger in 2025-26.

When fully engaged, the 2024-25 squad played a relentless, hard-nosed brand of hockey—strong on pucks, tough in the corners, and difficult to play against. However, inconsistency in effort and execution proved costly at times. Next season, the team will need to generate more offensive production while tightening up defensive-zone play. Many of this year’s losses weren’t due to a lack of talent, but rather avoidable mistakes—missed coverages, lapses in structure, and breakdowns (turnovers) in key moments. Addressing these issues should be a major focus heading into next season.
Ironically, during the 2024-25 season, the team was at its best against tougher competition—holding its own against Middlesex League teams, Shawsheen Tech, and Concord-Carlisle—yet struggled against weaker opponents. Moving forward, maintaining that high level of play against strong teams will be crucial, but the habit of playing down to the competition needs to be eliminated.
The work for 2025-26 begins now. With a strong returning nucleus, some promising JV players in the pipeline and the inevitable freshmen (or two) that always seem to crack the lineup every year, the Minutemen are well-positioned to take a step forward. An exciting addition to the program is the likely implementation of an outside, professional strength and conditioning program this offseason—an important step toward building a physically stronger, and faster team.
The 2025-26 season is officially on the clock - only a little more than 285 days away !!!
