FUNDRAISING
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL FOR IMPORTANT FUNDRAISING DETAILS!
Dear LHS Boys Hockey Community,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 LHS Boys Hockey pre-season!
Although the official start to the season won’t be for several months, the Boys Hockey Boosters are already preparing for the first puck drop! For those not familiar with the Boosters, we are a group of parents who work to assist and support the LHS Boys Hockey coaches and players throughout the year to ensure a successful season. We help with fundraising, team support, team dinners, community events, and more. The Booster Board is a small committee that sets direction, manages program logistics, and represents all parents of LHS Hockey players, both for Varsity and Junior Varsity.
Each season, the Boosters help facilitate raising funds to cover program costs not included in the LHS Athletic Department budget, such as warm-up attire, an end-of-season banquet, senior gifts, JV team sweatshirts, game films, and more. We select one primary fundraiser for which the players are responsible and then a few others that the Boosters manage, such as yearbook and banner ad sales.
This season, the LHS Boys Hockey Players will again participate in the Battlegreen Foundation’s Ralph Lord Memorial 5K Run to raise funds for their program on November 3rd. This fundraiser allows the players to run the 5K event as a team and solicit direct donations for their efforts on behalf of the LHS Boys Hockey program.
We hope all players participate in the 5K run and do their best to help the team reach its fundraising goal. Players should try to raise $300 each for the program (with families of 2 players targeting $500 in total). We appreciate the players trying to meet this goal again this season. We know that the current economy has affected families in various ways, and it is not our intention with this fundraiser to ask families to personally contribute $300 for their players. Instead, we believe this is an opportunity for the players to have a stake in helping their team reach its goal and fundraise for a worthy cause. In addition, this is an excellent opportunity for the players to come together as a team before the start of the season!
The Battlegreen Foundation will hold the 5K run as an in-person event this year on November 3rd. However, a virtual option will also be available this year should you have a conflict on the run date.
WHAT PLAYERS NEED TO DO - THERE ARE TWO STEPS NEEDED:

During registration, you are asked if you want to Join a Running Team (this is the Social Team). Click Yes, then use the dropdown menu to select LHS Boys Hockey as your Social team.
Step 2 - Create Your Player Fundraiser:
To make it easier for each player to meet their $300 fundraising goal, we have set up a dedicated LHS Boys Hockey donation page:
-
You must create a fundraising page by clicking the link ‘Join’ link to create an Individual Fundraising Page.
-
Ask friends, family, neighbors, etc. to support your efforts and donate $10 - $30 or whatever they can.
-
We have also provided an email template (see below) to help you reach out to friends and family to raise donations.
PLEASE NOTE: ask your supporters to add your name to their donation in the “On Behalf Of” box to the lower left of the donation page so we can track the funds you raise.
-
Consider posting our LHS Boys Hockey 5K Donation Page to your social media to promote the run and your fundraising efforts.
-
If you cannot participate in the 5K run, you can still raise funds by asking friends and family to support your running teammates.
Step 3 - Run/Walk In-Person
-
The team should meet on November 3rd at 11:45 a.m. at J Lot since the 5K run begins at 12:15 p.m. at LHS.

Plan ahead and wear your LHS Hockey white warm-up t-shirt if you have one; if not, wear something that says LHS or Lexington.
Step 3 - Run/Walk Virtual Option
-
Complete your 5K run/walk on your own, in small groups, with family, etc, anywhere, anytime between November 3rd and November 9th
-
